Saturday-Sunday, October 2 - 3 A Wild Saturday night at the Hafli and an Elegant Sunday at L'escale.

Saturday was kind of misty...threatning to rain. All for the best as I had some intense shopping to do in NYC. That evening we went to an Arabic party that was wild and fun. Sunday was beautiful...perfect for brunch at L'escale.

Saturday morning I took the train into NY. I was amazed to see this black squirel. I had never seen a black squirel before. Then someone told me all the squirels in Canada were black. Is that true?

That night I got back from NY at about eight. Then I had to get glammed up for the Hafli. A Hafli is an exhuberant Arabic party...it's all about dancing folkloric dances to exotic music... Here's a montage that shows the "Debke" a Lebanese line dance.

Here I am begging Nick to dance with me, but he just wanted to smoke his Cohiba...

Well to heck with him. So I proceed to dance with Anis, who was nice enough to ask me...but we had a slight problem as illustrated in this photo...my shirt got stuck on the button of his jacket...too funny!

Josephine, Anis's beautiful wife, was amused.

Smoking is a big part of the fun at a Hafli. Here's a table with several Nargiles.

But my friend Feryial had left for Europe and she's my Nargile partner, so that night my smokes of choice were ...Midnight Dreams. Are these cool or what? They're some kind of Russian cigarette and they're black and come in this over-the-tip holographic box... I love them and I don't even smoke!

ummm...well...here I am trying to smoke with my friend Elie...I think he's an amature too.

Eli Karam works hard to organize this Hafli. Here's he's toasting a successful event with... Arak of course!

Samira and Ricky. I was a special night for them...it was Ricky's birthday.

Nick and Charlie, watching the action from the sidelines.

Sam, Elie, Nick...real men don't dance...or eat quiche. They eat Kibbe naje!

Christine - Always the belle of the ball

A Smokey farewell. A good time was had by all.

Sunday morning we left early for Larchmont.

Next door no one was home.

Token red car. Seems I have to have one in every post. Found this one driving along I95.

Luc and Marie received us with great champagne and a fine selection of amuse gules.

Luc and Nick ready for brunch.

check out this montage. On the left is my reflection while I photograph Nick and on the right is the resulting photo...get it?

Marie and Mark were competing to see who could created the most beautiful desert plate. Mark's is above and Marie's below. Who would you vote for?

It was another memorable meal at L'escale...and as always the scenery included sailboats.
