The reason Stephanie looks so happy? It was her first time at a casino and she won $1,000 dollars playing a slot machine.
The next day we decided to take a drive up through...Rhode Island.
Dad and daughter...ready to go.
We drove up the coast of Rhode Island, past the stately homes of Watch Hill.
...soon we arrived in Naraganset where we had been on Labor Day weekend.
Steph and I both wanted this car.
A little later we arrived in Newport, one of my favorite places. The high season had ended on Labor Day so the crowds were gone, but the weather was great. A perfect day for strolling around, which we did.
There were lots of wonderful and unique shops, like this one that sold exquisite model sailboats.
In the center of town we came upon this sculpture of an organ grinder and his monkey. Steph and Nasos found it so cute and endearing...
...and no one found it funny when I pretended to be taking the monkey's money.
At the port there was a dock master's office...someone had tampered with the sign...made a good photo opportunity.
We also found these antique lobster scales, which I thought were quite cool.
I couldn't resist this funny photo. I took it on one of Newport's busy shopping streets....this guy looks quite comfortable behind the wheel.
Newport just has this great nautical vibe...and the day was beautiful.
Then we went back down to Foxwoods for the night...butfirst we had a drink at Lake of Isles. Here's Nick, thinking about golf.
This was one of the gorgeous deserts we had a Foxwoods that weekend.
The next day I went with Steph and Nasos to Stepping Stone Ranch where we rode trails through the pine forests.
Steph and I both had sweet horses...it was great...except that her horse was prettier than mine...and she rode better than I did...yes, other than that it was just fine.
...and here's Nasos on Dakota.
By the time we got back to the ranch we were all riding like pros. Well, almost.
